Slytherin Common Room | Vera and Luna

“You’d be the only one to thank nargles.” Vera said smiling and shaking her head, “But I missed you too.” Looking away she flashed her eyes around the slowly emptying room, making sure no one was giving the odd couple any looks. Glaring at everyone until she was satisfied she turned back to her friend, who was riffling through her bag with the most adorable look on her face.

Knowing that Luna’s fashion taste was… eclectic, Vera eye’d the bag apprehension. She loved most of the unique and quirky things her mate wore, but not all of which suited the slytherin.

Upon seeing the jewelry Vera was relieved, and even excited. Taking the earrings, Vera turned around in her seat so Luna could put the necklace around her neck. She moved her newly red hair out of the way then focused on looking at the little dangling radishes. “Luna, I have to admit, you find the coolest jewelry and apparel. Where did you even get these?”

Luna slipped the butterbeer cork onto the necklace and glanced over at Vera upon her question. “Oh, I didn’t find the jewelry. I made them. Though I did come across a small radish garden outside of my home. I remembered reading an article in The Quibbler once stating that radishes ward away Nargles. Just my luck too. “

Luna paused mid rant to hook the necklace around Vera’s neck, smiling a small smile up at Vera before she continued. “Some of my belongings had been disappearing and I suspected Nargles were at it. The charms seemed to have quelled their mischief around my person but I’m afraid that some of my items are still missing. This time though it’s not part of the Nargles doing.”

With that, she gave a small nod as if to reassure her statement though with a small frown gracing her features. She shook her head as if to shake the thoughts away, a dreamy smile planted once more of her face. She placed her hand over the bright haired girl’s and quirked her head to the side. “Have Nargles nicked any of your belongings?” She inquired, passively patting Vera’s hand.

Furrowing her brow, Vera gave a the blonde a quizzical look. Always one to get right to the point she asked, “Never mind me, have people been nicking your things again, Luna?” Almost reflexively she turned her olive eyes to the few people still in the common room, if as to say, ‘Was it one of you?’. She knew that was highly unlikely, seeing how Slytherins tried mostly to keep to their own house affairs.

Vera worried about her friend. Luna was kind, forgiving, and in her opinion bit too trusting. She was the type of person who could easily be taken advantage of despite her intelligence.

Tossing her hair back and adjusting her new necklace, she removed her peridot studs and replaced them with the tiny radishes. They swung gracefully from her ears ask she waited for a reply.

Slytherin Common Room | Vera and Luna

Luna dreamily skipped out of Charms class, waving farewell to Professor Flitwick on her way out. She tucked her wand behind her ear - for safe keeping, of course - and readjusted the strap to her school bag on her shoulder. She had a number of butterbeer corks tucked away within her bag, holding onto them in case she managed to lose the one hanging from a small chain around her neck or if anyone was in need of one. The latter was called for, the sole reason why she was making her way towards the Slytherin dungeons but she also dearly missed her friend. Her childhood friend, Vera, was having trouble with Nargles and Luna was going to do all that she could to ease her friend’s troubles. Friends. She smiled serenely. She’s been getting more and more of those this year due to being part of Dumbledore’s Army. She had Harry Potter to thank for that, and that she would do. Perhaps he would like a charm too.

Luna paused at the wall which lead to the Slytherin common room and chirped up the required password. Upon the opening of the entrance, she poked her head inside, giving the room a brief look around - hoping to find Vera - but instead spotted a seat by a window giving a lovely underwater view of the lake’s giant squid. She made her way over to the seat and crossed her yellow stocking clad legs underneath her. Gasps and murmurs filled the room but none reached her ears as she fixed her gaze on the giant squid floating about.

[OOC ; Ionno about you guys but I had no idea the Slytherin common room had an underwater view of the lake until I looked it up xD]

Glad that she had the last class block to herself to study, Vera closed the Astronomy book she had been scribbling and stretched. It was growing close to the end of the day, and she had asked Luna to come help her with nargle problem which had been getting worse since the start of term. Even with her copious and complex protection charms all her bracelets, rings, and stockings had been going missing, and she was going to make it stop. Tonight.

As she stood up, Lucille peeked her head out of Vera’s robe sleave and flicked her tongue. Gingerly taking the snake into her hand she transferred her to the magically enhanced tank on the opposite wall and placed her in it. “I’ll be back, child.” She whispered into the little bio-dome.

Vera had been looking forward to properly spending time with her young friend. It’d been a few months and a few letter since they even talked. She had been so busy over summer vacation practicing aerial quidditch maneuvers, and attempting to become an animagus that the number of letters they’d shared had been too few.

After putting on her best green jumper, Vera strode to the dorm door and continued down the short hallway to the common room. As she entered, her eyes immediately scanned the room to make sure Luna hadn’t arrived early. Much to her pleasure, bright mustard yellow stocking greeted her eyes. A few of her fellow Slytherins had looks of incredulity plastered to their faces, which also gave Vera a sense of pleasure.

With a cheerful sigh, she crossed the room to her friend, who seemed to be having a moment with the giant squid. A small group of third years whispered as she past, but were quickly silenced with a single look from the sixth year. Before she sat down she gave Luna a smile and a swift hug, “Hey, Luna. Thanks for coming!”

So fixated on the giant squid, Luna didn’t notice Vera’s entrance or sitting down by her until she was gathered up in a swift hug. She was rarely one to be surprised but Vera had an uncanny knack of doing just that which resolved in Luna squeaking out in surprise. Eyes still partially widened beyond their usual perturbed state and blinking owlishly, Luna loped her arms around her friend and hugged her in return.

Ending the hug which seemed to be a bit too soon for her, Luna sat back a little to get a good look at her best mate, giving her a small smile. “Though they’re pesky, I must thank the Nargles for bringing me here. I’ve missed you, Vera,” she replied softly, hugging her once more. It’s true. The letters exchanged between the two had been far too few, but they were just enough to get her through the summer without feeling terribly lonely. Luna did have her father, but it was nothing like having a friend.

Luna then leaned back into her seat and brought her bag up onto her lap from it’s position on the floor. She slowly rifled through the bag, slightly poking her tongue out of the corner of her mouth as she tried to be careful to not disturb any items in her search. After a few seconds, she finally fished out a butterbeer cork along with a small necklace chain and a pair of radish earrings she made earlier that day just for Vera.

She hopped up from her seat, depositing her bag back onto the floor, and plopped herself down beside Vera. “Here, I’ll help you put them on. Though the earrings I believe you should do yourself,” she offered, handing the Slytherin the bright colored radish earrings.

“You’d be the only one to thank nargles.” Vera said smiling and shaking her head, “But I missed you too.” Looking away she flashed her eyes around the slowly emptying room, making sure no one was giving the odd couple any looks. This is really lovely, Luna.

It is, isn’t it? Sadly nargles have a knack for infesting them.

Nargles always seem to infest lovely things. It’s really irritating.

Oh, you’re having trouble with them? I believe I have some charms you can have to ward them away.

That’d be lovely, Luna. My common room or yours?

Yours, perhaps. I have a feeling that my common room wouldn’t be the kindest of places, oddly.

Mine isn’t so kind too kind to outsiders, but you’re not exactly a Gryffindor, so I’m sure you’ll be fine. Not like anyone’ll mess with you, anyway. I’ll make sure of that.

So, I’ll see you after classes?
